These works are the finale of the series ‘The Rhine: a journey from the source’. They are a contemplation or meditation on what lies on the bed of the river – all the blood that has been spilled in the Rhine, particularly during the last two world wars and in the French revolution when the fleur de lis (the iris) was lost as a French national symbol. These works have never been exhibited. They are in mixed media on paper, 100cm x 75cm
