Work in progress "The Masque of Blackness"

"The Masque of Blackness" is a hand drawn animation with related drawings to be premiered and exhibited

at The Gallery in Redchurch Street London E2, March 2013.

Inspired by Ben Johnson's 1605 masque and Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness"

Both works use an African river symbolically and as a vehicle for an inner journey. A journey into self.

The work explores the relationship between still images, moving images and music, with drawings in charcoal on paper and

onto silk. The original score will be composed by Esben Tjalve, sound and editing will be by Matthew Thomas.
